Chapter 1- A New Beginning

Autumn's POV

Pain, fear, and darkness. That's all I felt as I lay there. Being alone in the forest, the one place I truly felt safe, was now loneliness drowning in tragedy. As the wind blew the leaves off of me, I opened my eyes slowly. Seeing the starry night sky and the moon, gleaming down at me. In the state I was in, the moon looked down at me, telling me to wake up. As I rose from the ground, the strength I had lost came back to me in a flash. My feet touched the ground, and I felt the joy of my heart flowing through my body. I took a quick look at myself, from head to toe, and then glanced straight at the moon. Though I didn't hear anything, I could feel the moon telling me, "You are Autumn Forest, spirit of the fall, guardian of Thanksgiving, trust, and magic." But that's all it ever told me. It didn't tell me why I was here, or what I was meant to do. The moon just told me who I was.

I looked down at the ground and saw a golden-metal rod with a red jewel, which seemed to glow, on the top of it. I went over to pick it up, and when I did, a golden light came shining out of the jewel. The trees turned to the colors of the fall, the wind blew through the trees, knocking the leaves off the branches. At that moment, I felt the power of faith and courage dwelling within the forest and myself. The pain, fear, and darkness I felt, vanished along with the loneliness I once felt. Nothing I've ever felt, had felt this way before.

I began to run around that small space in the forest and with the metal rod, I blew the wind through the trees. The leaves flew around me like birds flying through the sky. The wind lifted me up into the sky and the view I saw was absolutely beautiful. The village lights were twinkling like stars in the night sky. With the curiosity that flowed through me, I followed the current of the wind and it took me to the village. This was my first time soaring through the sky, but it was hard to get the hang of it. But sooner or later, it would become a second nature to me.

As I got closer to my destination, I escaped the current of the wind and fell straight down and hit the ground. Ignoring the slight pain, I had walked around the village for a while and tried to ask someone where I was. When I came closer to a group of kids, I wondered if they could help me. "Excuse me, could you please tell me where I am?" but the little kids ignored me. While playing tag, one of the little kids ran straight through me as if I were a ghost. As I stood there panicking, the rest of the walking villagers had gone through me as well.

As panicked as I was, I did not know what to do. 'If the moon told me I was a guardian, how come people can't see me?' I thought to myself as I ran out of the village with tears building up in my eyes, and right in the middle of some other forest I barely knew, I stopped and looked up at the moon once again, hoping it would tell me something else about me. But I was wrong. It said nothing.
